WCAG standards were developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and are widely accepted as the gold standard for digital accessibility compliance. They form the basis for most accessibility regulations around the world and are applicable to all current and future digital technologies.

WCAG has three levels of compliance: A, AA, and AAA. Level A is the lowest (minimum) compliance level and level AAA is the highest (maximum). Most organizations set their standards at AA level because it is both achievable and meaningful, without disrupting the design and development process too much. In June 2018, the W3C released WCAG 2.1 – the first major update to WCAG requirements in a decade. This update introduced 17 new Success Criteria improving WCAG coverage for cognitive disabilities, low vision disabilities and mobile accessibility.

Here are some steps you can take to make sure your websites and apps are accessible:

– Have a complete accessibility audit of your site and applications carried out to determine your current level of accessibility.

– Determine which parts of your site or app should be prioritized based on usage and the severity of accessibility issues.

– Train your developers, testers and content creators in accessibility concepts and techniques and provide them with support to help them solve your accessibility issues.

– Equip your development teams with tools to integrate accessibility tests into all stages of the development process.

We offer a web accessibility training package, RGAA training and WCAG training.
